What are your hours of operation?
I am open Monday through Friday from 7:30AM -5:00PM
Where are you located?
The closest major intersection is SE Floresta Drive and Crosstown Pkwy in Port St Lucie, FL.
What is the difference between a Family Day Care and a babysitter?
While there are many differences between family childcare and babysitting, the biggest is probably the required training and vetting process that DCF requires. All licensed childcare providers and their family members have been thoroughly background checked, fingerprinted, and have been ran through various registries such as the Child Abuse and Neglect Registry before a license is issued. Licensed providers also have an unannounced inspection twice a year with the findings open for all members of the public to view.
Do you have a waitlist?
At the time of publishing this, no. However, I urge you to always send me a message and ask because things can and do change!
How does the waitlist work?
All that is needed in order to be added to the waitlist is your child’s name, birthday, and a good number to reach you at when a spot becomes available. Children referred to me by past & current families will take precedent when it becomes time to schedule tours.
Do you provide food or diapers?
I do provide diapers and wipes for full time infants.
What is your provider to child ratio?
I am registered to care for a maximum of 10 children. The state of Florida has separate ratio guidelines depending on the age of the children that are in my care. I currently am only accepting children 3+ months.
Do you accept ELC?
Yes! I currently do participate in the ELC program.
10.) Do you have cameras?
Yes. Almost every room in my home is covered by security cameras. This can offer you some peace of mind and allows me to go back and pull footage if ever necessary. Parent view subscription is available for parents To view their child at any time of the day.
11.) What kind of training do you have?
Licensed providers are required to complete 40 hours of training before licensure and an additional 10 hours of training every year. Some of the certifications I have include: Pediatric and Adult CPR & First Aid, Safe Sleep, Nutrition, Child Growth and Development, Curriculum Preparation, Emergency Preparedness, Behavioral Observation and Screening, Water Safety, Challenging Behaviors Awareness and Prevention, Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect, Quality in Childcare Settings, and more!
12.) What is your learning philosophy/approach?
We offer a balance of academics, recreation, enrichment, and cultural activities. We encourage them to explore new activities, inspire personal growth, and foster a culture of creativity and discovery while in a safe, clean and nurturing environment.
At Ms. Dorothy’s Children’s Center, we believe that every child is a precious gift from God, entrusted to us to nurture and guide. Our philosophy is founded on the principles of faith, love, and respect for all of God’s creation. We embrace a philosophy that combines the Montessori method’s respect for the child’s individuality with the dynamic, hands-on learning approach of progressive education. We believe in creating an environment where children are empowered to explore, learn, and grow through their natural curiosity and innate desire for knowledge. We do many structured activities and games but have plenty of time for free play as well. I always aim to interact with the children in a way that nurtures and scaffolds their ideas in order to watch their creativity soar.
13.) Do you have pets in your home?
No Pets are present at our location
