●Students will learn several reading strategies in order to solve unfamiliar words

3) Learning About the World: Nonfiction

●Students will learn how to read and navigate nonfiction texts

4) Readers Have Big Jobs to Do

●Students will learn how to read fluently and use new strategies for word solving and comprehension

5) Readers Get to Know Characters

●Students will learn how to bring characters to life as well as work in small groups to perform a book of their choice

6) Meeting Characters and Learning Lessons

●Students will learn to independently retell a story using character, setting, and important main events as well as determine the author’s message

7) Reading Nonfiction Cover to Cover

●Students will work together in small groups to get super smart on nonfiction topics of their choice
