Unit 1: Numbers Within 10: Addition and Subtraction
This unit extends children's understanding of adding and subtracting within 10.
Some of the key skills taught in this unit include: counting on to add and subtract, using doubles and doubles plus 1 facts, adding in any order, finding missing addends, finding number partners for 10, solving addition and subtraction word problems, subtracting to compare, and identifying true or false equations.
Unit 2: Numbers Within 20: Addition and Subtraction and Representing Data
Students will begin adding and subtracting within 20.
Some of the key skills taught in this unit include: naming and writing teen numbers, making a ten to add or subtract, finding totals greater than 10, adding three numbers, finding the unknown number in an equation, solving word problems within 20, and collecting/comparing data.
Unit 3: Tens and Ones: Counting, Place Value, Time, and Money
Students will learn about place value with tens and ones.
Some of the key skills taught in this unit include: showing numbers as tens, counting to 120, showing numbers as tens and ones, comparing numbers, and telling time to the hour and half hour.
Unit 4: Operations with Tens and Ones: Addition and Subtraction
This unit introduces children to operations with two-digit numbers.
Some of the key skills taught in this unit include: adding and subtracting tens, adding and subtracting 10 from any number, adding tens to any number, adding one-digit and two-digit numbers, and then finally adding two-digit numbers.
Unit 5: Length: Comparing, Ordering, and Measuring
Students will deepen their understanding of length.
Some of the key skills taught in this unit include: ordering objects by length, comparing lengths of objects, and measuring lengths of objects.
Unit 6: Geometry: Analyzing, Composing, and Partitioning Shapes
Students will deepen their understanding of geometric shapes.
Some of the key skills taught in this unit include: using sides and corners to name shapes, putting shapes together to make new shapes, breaking shapes into halves, and breaking shapes into fourths.
