A professional goal I have is to always prioritize and scaffold accommodations/modifications with my lesson plans to aid every student of mine in an individualized way that meets their needs. Looking at my exceptionality, as well as my classmates', it reminds me to be mindful of needs my students might have that I might not be knowledgeable about and educate myself so I can take into account the altering of materials I might need when conducting future lessons.
My presentation was on Williams Syndrome, an exceptionality I had never even heard of before. It should always be a priority to better educate yourself when faced with diversity and adversity to do what is best for your students' needs. I want to learn more about exceptionalities that I might run into and discover ways to make learning easier and less stressful for every child I have in my classroom to make school an enjoyable experience.
The least you can do as an educator is learn how to adapt and be flexible in the classroom. By altering the way that you teach and making it accessible to all types of learners, student frustration will decrease and student engagement will increase.
