Hi! I am Meagan Barnett. You may call me Ms. Barnett! This is my second year teaching 5th grade, and I cannot wait to continue learning alongside you this school year! I look forward to getting to know you; you may read below to get to know me!
PERSONAL LIFE
I graduated from MTSU in May of 2023, and this is my second year teaching as well as my second year in fifth grade! I am twenty-three years old, and I'm from Shelbyville, TN. I was born in Austin, Texas and have also lived in Murray, Kentucky as well as Apex, North Carolina before my family and I moved to Shelbyville. I attended four different elementary schools as a child, so I am very familiar with being the new kid! I currently live in Murfreesboro and have one older sister, Jordan. She's three years older than me and works as a travel nurse. I am more than excited to learn with you this year. Please do not ever hesitate to contact me! EDUCATION
I graduated with honors from Shelbyville Central High School in 2019, ranked 6th in my graduating class. In high school, I played volleyball and tennis, and I was a football & basketball cheerleader! I was also the student body vice president, the secretary for FCA & HOSA, the sports editor for the yearbook staff, and a member of the drama club & NHS.
I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in May of 2023, magna cum laude, with a bachelor's of science in elementary education and a minor in psychology. At MTSU, I worked as a student orientation assistant and was a member of The Point student ministries. I also worked as a substitute teacher, gaining experience in grades K-6, while attending college. I completed my student teaching placements in the 4th grade at Homer Pittard Campus School and in the 5th grade here at Plainview! I am overly excited to continue working with the 5th grade team at PES!
HOBBIES & INTERESTS
During my free time, I love to relax by watching game shows or going shopping! I also love to go horseback riding and do anything outdoors. More than anything else, I love to travel with my family! So far, I have traveled to about 20 states and 4 other countries. Below you can find some pictures of me around the world!
