Timing

A Cappella

(This is just like Acafest/ICHSA)

1. Students will use the doors past the bathrooms in the lobby to access the backstage hallway (stage right side). Once there, please make sure that you are lined up single-file in mic number order.

2. You will remain in the back hallway until our staff come to get you. Then you will proceed to wings. You will take the mic from the previous group. 

3. Your time begins at the first note sung. You will have 10 minutes to perform. Time will stop at the last note/movement. The penalty is 2 points (per judge) for every 30 seconds that you exceed the 10-minute time limit.

4. Following your performance, you will exit stage left and hand your mics off to the next group. You will exit the area via the stage left ramp. Please quickly take your seats or exit the auditorium before the next group begins.

**Important rule for backdrops/set: You may not begin unloading your set until 2 hours prior to your performance time. We do not have enough space for those performing late to begin setting up early. You are welcome to use the side parking lot to assemble things, but you may not load them backstage.

1. Students will enter via the stage left door to the outside sidewalk. A member of our backstage crew will let you know when they can begin entering. They may enter the wings, but may NOT cross the tape to the stage until we indicate that your time is beginning. If students cross the tape, your time will automatically begin.

2. Props/backdrops will enter through the rolling door. There will also be tape here. If they cross the tape, your time begins. 

3. The PRCC timer will tell you when you can cross the tape and at that point they will start your time. They will shadow the director so that you don't have to look for him once you are set.

4. Once you are set and ready to begin, you will tell the timer you are ready. They will stop the timer for the announcement and the curtain.

5. Your time will begin again with the first note and will continue until all personnel and equipment is back across the appropriate line.

6. Students and costume racks will exit stage right. Props and equipment will exit back through the roll up door. Once everything is across the tape, your time will stop.

7. The penalty is 2 points (per judge) for everything 30 seconds that you exceed the time limit. For example, if your time is 2:26, then you will be assessed a 10-point penalty per judge. Elementary and Class A Middle School will have 25 minutes. All other groups will have 30 minutes.

8. For those who use the 4th riser, you will NOT be timed for our crew setting up the 4th riser. 

9. No group is allowed to store props or equipment overnight.

10. All parents who are backstage crew must enter the auditorium through the lobby doors. They may not use the ramps. In other words, you cannot walk from backstage through the wings to the auditorium.
