More Information
These lessons are private, in-home violin lessons. I will travel to your house for each lesson. If you are interested in group or in-studio lessons, please see FAQ for more information, or reach out to me.
All lessons begin at 30-minutes, starting with a free consultation lesson.
These lessons are for students of all ages, from 5 years old to adult.
Typically, lessons are taught under the Suzuki method. However, some lessons call for an alternative curriculum and/or other approaches which I am happy and able to provide.
Lessons are tailored to each student's strengths and interests. I will include instruction that leads to success in your own personal musical interests, and find appropriate exercises and repertoire for these.
After each lesson, I will send practice instructions and additional resources to prepare for the following lesson. These include warm-ups, reviews, and practice exercises/repertoire with notes to help approach practicing.
After the consultation lesson, students (and/or guardians) will be given access to a private google classroom with all lesson information. This is where weekly practice instructions, additional resources, and other information will be posted, as well as where you can confirm or cancel/reschedule lessons.
A phone call is required for a consultation lesson to be scheduled. This phone call is for me to get more information about the student (whether that is yourself or someone else), give you more specific information about lessons, and answer any other questions you may have. If signing up for lessons, will also schedule the consultation lesson at this time, as well as weekly lessons moving forward.
Please complete the Lesson Inquiry form to schedule a phone call. I will email you to confirm a date/time. Once the phone call is confirmed, please submit the Contact Information form and Consultation Lesson form before the scheduled phone call.
If you are inquiring about lessons but are not ready to sign up yet, you only need to fill out the Contact form.
What is your musical experience?
I started playing violin when I was 5 years old. Throughout elementary and middle school, my passion for music grew and my curiosity got the best of me. I chose my high-school for it's well-known and successful philharmonic orchestra, as I knew I wanted to pursue music as a career. During this time I began teaching myself a variety of instruments and exploring different avenues. I landed at Boston University's School of Music, where I studied music and music education. This is where my formal training in piano began. I was able to take private piano lessons and refine my technique. In 2020 when school was online, I began giving private piano lessons and fell in love with teaching. I knew I wanted to continue to share my passion for music, and inspire others to find theirs. After I graduated, I spent about a year in a Boston Public School music classroom, teaching music to grades K1-6. Although I loved the work I did with those students, I wanted to go back to lessons full-time, and have since dedicated myself to private piano and violin lessons.
Do you need any experience to start violin lessons?
No experience is needed to begin lessons. Lessons include learning how to read and write music, ear-training, violin basics and techniques, and more!
Where do the lessons take place?
Currently all lessons are in-home, meaning I would travel to your home for the lessons. Starting in mid-July, I will be offering in-studio lessons where families will be able to travel to my studio each week.
Do you accept beginners?
Yes, in fact most of my students start as beginners.
What styles do you teach?
After learning the basics, I would typically transition a student to classical music training. However I cater lessons to individual students' interests and strengths, so if a student is interested in learning a different style, I am prepared to lead them down that path. I am able to teach classical, jazz, pop, and other genres.
Do you provide group or private lessons?
I currently only provide private lessons. However if there is a situation in which a group lesson is preferred and/or needed, I am prepared to discuss further details and move forward with lessons.
Do I need to get my own instrument?
Yes you will need your own instrument. Students need access to their instrument in order to practice throughout the week. The only way to improve is to practice what you learn in lessons. Recommendations can be made at your request.
Do you offer virtual lessons?
Unfortunately I do not offer virtual lessons. Especially for younger students and beginners, I find the best musical education comes from an in-person experience, and I support many of my lesson plans with kinesthetic activities.
Do you teach other instruments?
Yes, including piano, theory tutoring, and performance preparation. Fees vary per instrument, due to required teacher purchases and resources per student. Please inquire and indicate your interest in other instruments in a lesson inquiry form.
