Classroom Guidance Lessons
Classroom visits to promote and celebrate Comet Pride, covering topics such as conflict resolution, character education, problem solving, friendship, and understanding feelings of self and others, as well as the Six Stars of Stellar Character. Lessons promote our Character Education program and positive behavior support.
Small Group Lessons
Small groups are offered to students who may benefit from spending extra time developing academic, social and emotional skills along with their peers, and to students who are coping with similar situations. Groups meet once a week for several weeks. Group counseling topics include friendship skills, self-esteem, anxiety/stress management, coping with family change (divorce, separation, etc.), anger control, and grief support.
Individual Counseling
Students may benefit from one-on-one counseling regarding social, emotional and academic challenges. Individual counseling at school is short-term and requires parent permission.
Presentations
Grade presentations are made to promote social, emotional and academic issues, and teach skill sets. We incorporate culture, academics and leadership as a paradigm.
