Week 6: Vivaldi's Spring

This week you will listen and analyze a movement from Antonio Vivaldi's The Four Seasons.

  • Listen to this performance of “Spring” from The Four Seasons.

  • Discuss the questions below:

      • Can you hear different moods or events in this music?

      • Are there times when the music sounds happy?

      • Are there times when the music sounds sad or frightening?

  • Listen again as you color and cut out the pictures attached on the left. Listen as many times as you need to put the pictures in the correct order.

  • Discuss the questions below:

      • What instrument represents the bird singing?

      • What instruments represent the thunder and lightning?

      • What else do you hear?

  • Optional Extension Activity: Do some research about Antonio Vivaldi. Find 3 facts about him, and email them to me!

  • Optional Extension Activity: Discuss the following questions with people in your house. Do you like it or not? Why? What instruments do you hear? What is the tempo? What dynamics are used?
