Education

Hello,

On this page, you will find information regarding my educational background as well as my view on education.

See the links provided below to access my Educational philosophy and my approach to teaching diverse learners.

Background

I received my B.S. in Biology from Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas (2018-2022). During this time, I played DII soccer for my university, was a member of many clubs/honor societies, and participated in many volunteer opportunities.

I continued my education by receiving my M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from Adams State University in Alamosa Colorado.

During the 2022-2023 school year, I student-taught at Littleton High School.

Learn about a

"Growth Mindset"

I am a strong advocate of teaching/promoting a "Growth Mindset" in and outside of my classroom.

Why I became an Educator:

My brother and I are very different people. I grew up always looking forward to going to school. I was extroverted and academic; school and friendships within it came easy to me. My brother on the other hand had a difficult time. He was smart and creative, however, he hated school. He had difficulties with peers, teachers, and himself. He dropped out his senior year of high school and never went back.

Seeing two vastly different experiences in education has really forced me to accept the fact that everyone is different. Everyone has different interests, preferences, and methods of learning. By becoming a teacher, I hope to create a space where everyone is welcomed and their individuality is celebrated. I want to provide students with a space to learn where they have more autonomy and responsibility for their own learning. High school students are so close to becoming adults (if they aren't already). As a teacher, I want to enhance student learning by guiding through instruction that uses real-life experiences, connections to the real world, and gives students opportunities to apply their knowledge in differentiated ways.

I want to be a teacher who sees students as individuals with other sides to them than just academics. I want to help them see the power in education and their abilities to become/learn anything.
