Repetition is when you repeat the same thing over and over. In this artwork we will be exploring lots of different colors and trying to repeat the same colors or designs over and over in different ways.
Steps:
1) Get your materials* ready:
White paper
Tempera or watercolor paint
Paint brush
Cold water to wash your brushes out
Paper towel
2) Watch the video of Peter H. Reynolds' The Dot.
3) Watch the video on Dot Painting! When you watch the video you might want to pause it every so often and paint along. Here are the steps:
Paint a BIG circle in the middle of your paper. Fill that big circle with paint. You can use the same color or different colors, it is up to you! You can even make a pattern if you want.
In the background paint some more dots.
Now, think about what colors would contrast with your dots. Contrast means that the colors are very different from each other.
Add lines, patterns, or tiny dots to your big dots.
Paint your background in with a solid color or with more designs.
Try to fill your whole paper up with different colors and designs!
Overlap more dots or designs over the top if you want!
4) Let your painting dry and clean up your supplies.
