Calling All Young Designers!
CityLab HS is launching its 5th Annual Middle School Design Competition!
THIS YEAR'S CHALLENGE:
Design a Dallas deck park experience that inspires Exploration, Wonder, and Awe through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art + Math)
THE CHALLENGE
Let your creativity flow, and design a space for visitors to explore and discover in one of Dallas’ Deck Parks.
Your challenge is to create a space that is innovative and dynamic and that will attract people of all ages to engage in STEAM activities (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math).
Imagine you’re designing a brand-new space in one of Dallas’ Deck Parks where people of all ages will want to stop, explore, make things, and have fun!
Think about:
What could people build or experiment with?
What could they create or design?
What could they try, test, experience, or discover?
What could they solve or figure out?
How could kids, teens, adults, and families enjoy the space together?
Your design should be creative, exciting, and innovative. Most importantly, it should get people excited to explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) related activities and events.

The purpose of the MS Design Competition is to provide middle school students with an opportunity to complete a real-world, authentic project that will allow them to explore their creative problem-solving skills. Through this project, middle school students will have the opportunity to interact with design professionals and CityLab High School teachers and students who work on similar projects as part of their regular high school Career and Technology Education (CTE) curriculum.
