AVID’s mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.
Students will be asked to maintain a 3-inch binder with their work. All papers that are returned will be stored in the appropriate section of their binder. Binder checks will be conducted periodically to ensure students are staying organized. This will also be a tool for students to communicate with their families what they are completing in school. **This may look slightly different with distance learning.

One key area of development is the ability of students to first know about the three Levels of Thinking, and then be able to craft their own levels of questions. The gathering/recall (Level 1) can be viewed as the copy-and-pasting level. The processing (Level 2) involves bringing two or more pieces of information together and requires the student to synthesize, find similarities, discover differences, or group concepts. The third level, application, involves the student pulling together multiple pieces of information, similar to the second level, but also requires the student to utilize their own ideas to create a cogent answer.
