I am SO excited to jump into Shakespeare this year! This semester we’ll start with a brief look at the man himself and the world he wrote in, then dive into Much Ado About Nothing, a comedy of sharp tongues and mistaken identities, and Macbeth, a dark tale of ambition and fate. Along the way, we’ll read scenes aloud, break down famous speeches, and explore how these plays still speak to us today.
Right now we are reading scenes and gaining familiarity with Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. Files can be found below.
Much Ado About Nothing (In One Hour) adapted by Maxine Kern - This is a one hour version of the show that keeps much of the original language and setting while shortening dialogue and scenes wherever possible.
Much Ado High School by Lindsay Price - While still technically an adaptation, this version of Much Ado takes place in a setting somehow more romantic than Messina, Italy - a school dance! A hilarious retelling in modern language that is often more easily understood.
