Chapter 1 – Functions and Graphs
In this unit (chapter 1 in the textbook) we develop some concepts and vocabulary that we'll continue to utilize throughout the year, as well as in your Calculus endeavors.
Some of these functions should already be familiar from previous math courses (e.g. lines, parabolas).
Other functions you most likely don't yet know much about (e.g. sinusoids, logarithmic curves).
Even before you thoroughly understand all the "basic" functions that get introduced in this chapter, we'll still explore some properties that apply to or are common to all functions.
Finally, in this unit you will begin to develop a comfort level with using the graphing calculator. As equally important as knowing how to use this tool is knowing when to put it down and just use your head instead.
