Hello Mountain View Middle School Families. My name is Mr. Tedder and I am a teacher who believes that education is a life-long journey filled with exciting adventures which should fill the mind with curiosity, and satisfy the soul.
I live in Washington state, with my beautiful wife of thirty one years, Tami. We have raised three boys of our own, along with many foster children, and some adults. My wife says that I am a broken people collector, but I have been blessed with the ability to help others. I have always dreamed that someday I would work in a profession that allows me to help children learn and better themselves through discipline, education, a strong belief in themselves, and confidence in their abilities.
Prior to returning to school, I spent thirty years supervising and setting up fiberglass facilities for boat manufacturing. I have enjoyed working with different people throughout my life, meeting challenges head on, achieving goals, and teaching people how to believe in their abilities to make the workplace, and their lives, more productive. I have since completed my Bachelor of Science Degree in secondary education.
In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with my family, playing guitar, traveling, and reading murder mysteries. Joe Dirt and Tommy Boy are my favorite movies of all time. My wife, children, and I have traveled extensively throughout the United States, we have also been to Scotland, Ireland, France, England, and Italy. We have been on many great adventures, but now that our children are grown and starting their own lives, I am excited to embark on an epic adventure of my own.
Grand Canyon University gave me the education I need to fulfill a life-long goal. I will finally be able to help children, as my wife would say, without bringing them all home. My wife and I are both successful professionals who made our way through hard work, dedication, honesty, and integrity, neither of us were high school graduates let alone able to attend college, but we believed in ourselves and each other. I believe that every student can be successful if they work hard and believe in themselves. I will do anything in my power to help them make their goals become their reality.

My Philosophy of education starts with the basic premise that all students have the capacity and the desire to learn. Learning is a journey which starts from the time a child is born and continues throughout the course of a person’s life. As an educator, I can engage students academically, emotionally, socially, intellectually, and physically, by establishing a classroom which celebrates diversity, differentiates content, process, products and learning environment to meet the needs of individual students, while emphasizing collaboration, and focusing on life experience and real-life situations.
When a teacher takes the role of a facilitator of learning, students will begin to use critical thinking to examine the information given, find answers for themselves, and create meaning which transcends the classroom and has a lasting effect on their everyday lives. A teacher who facilitates learning, enables students to become life-long learners who can process and disseminate what they have learned.
By creating a safe classroom which encourages diversity of thought, combined with implementing effective and creative teaching strategies which support students at varying academic levels, each student is given the opportunity to reach their academic goals. Furthermore, student centered education and the integration of current technologies, gives students the skill set needed to work collaboratively to solve real world problems.
Learning is a life-long process. By facilitating a students natural desire to learn and grow Intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically, students become successful both academically and in their lives outside the classroom and beyond academia.
