In this classroom, we will be...
Exploring music:
Your child will sing, play instruments and move to music in 4th Grade. They will learn how to keep a beat and tell the meaning of the music they will sing. These activities introduce artistic, cultural, scientific and mathematical foundations of music.
Singing:
We will be finding their voice in my classroom. Developing some technique and learning how to use their voice correctly and healthy before they get ready to go to H.T. Wiley Intermediate. We will be learning how to sing in 2-part harmony at the end of the year and learn how to incorporate emotion into what we are singing about. This year for our 4th grade concert, we are performing a Christmas musical called "Granny McBee's Christmas Eve." A separate page is provided for all the information that you will need to know about.
This will give students a great opportunity to perform on stage with acting, singing, and dancing. I am excited to bring this to Ohio Street.
Learning notes:
We will be incorporating what they have learned all along at Ohio Street. Knowing note names, what different note values are, time signature, everything they need to know about music. We are using what they have learned with playing Ukuleles and Orff instruments. This is something that I am looking forward to.
Listening and moving:
They will be exposed to many different kinds of songs with different beats and rhythms. They will respond to beat, rhythm and qualities of music, such as loud and soft, and fast and slow. This year, I am very excited to bring Folk Dancing to Ohio Street. Learning different songs and dances from around the world. This will take place around the wintertime when kids cannot go outside because of the weather. I am also looking forward to is learning Irish Step Dancing during the month of March for St. Patrick's Day.
