Our Learning

Whew! Last week was crazy with me being out for the week. I am so glad to be back in the classroom! The reading tests and math tests last week were both pretty rough overall, so I am not putting the original scores in the gradebook. I will be reviewing and reteaching the skills this week and reassigning the assessments. It is only fair since I was not here.

Last week students began a new unit in reading. They are learning about "green" technologies. These are mostly informational texts. Students will need to read carefully to find key details and determine a main idea and use these details and main ideas to summarize. Our spelling words are according, roared, before, start, charted, stored, fortunately, victory.

We have started learning about fractions! Last week students learned about equivalent fractions. This week students will learn about whole numbers, mixed numbers and improper fractions. In the near future students will be comparing fractions, adding and subtracting fractions, and multiplying and dividing fractions.

Although we have not finished our physical science unit yet, we began social studies last week due to me being absent. We will finish this unit on the Revolutionary War next week and get back to science.

Important Information

Please check Harmony if you are interested in seeing your child's grades. I update grades weekly.

Students will be doing a lot of testing this week to monitor how much growth they have made after the first semester. Be on the lookout for these reports after testing has finished.
