Hello everyone and welcome to week 6 of distance learning. This week we will be focussing on different ways to make the long vowel e sound. Please have students watch the review movie and then complete the 3 daily jobs. Job 1: Read poem, Birdie Pete aloud and highlight all of the e_e words. Job 2: Complete the firstiephonics page by circling all of the long e words and writing them at the bottom. Job 3: Complete the y crossword.

This week we will be starting addition to 20. We will be working on strategies to help to make addition easier and quicker. The first strategy we will be working on is adding to 10. Please have the students watch the introduction video and then they can play the Teen Number Race Game.

Here is a short explanation of the chemical reaction if you would like to explain to your child. Personally, at this age I just like to ask them why they think it happened and to enjoy their wonder!
Oil and vinegar do not have the same density. Vinegar is more dense than the vegetable oil we are using in this science experiment. That’s why it sinks to the bottom of the container.
Once the vinegar touches the bottom of the container, it reacts with the baking soda. This chemical reaction creates bubbling carbon dioxide – these are the bubbles you see within the container.
