Snacks & Lunch at Beechwood

We are NUT FREE!  Be sure to pack only snack and lunch food items that do not contain tree nuts or peanuts.  If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact our school nurse, Lisa Bruno.  Read more about Allergen Awareness here.

All full day Beechwood students (kindergarten-2nd grade) are given an opportunity for snack in addition to their 40 minute lunch period.  Kindergarten students with the early lunch (10:42 am) eat snack in the afternoon.  2nd grade students with the late lunch (12:06 pm) eat snack in the morning.  1st grade students with lunch in the middle (11:24 pm) eat snack at the time determined to work best by the teacher in accordance with their schedule.

THE CAFETERIA & MASCHIO’S

K-2 students will be provided a 40 minute lunch/recess period.  Students are able to take all the time they need to eat their lunch.  Any remaining time will be for recess.  Opportunity for those finished with lunch to go to recess will take place 20 minutes and again at 30 minutes into the lunch period.  Note that this recess time is in addition to a 20 minute daily recess time provided by the classroom teacher.  All students in a grade level eat lunch in the cafeteria at the same time.  Students will initially be guided to eat with their classmates as they gain comfort with cafeteria routines.  This, however, is not a rule and as early as day one, will be permitted to eat with friends they may know from other classrooms.

Maschio’s is our food services provider!  Everyday, students buying lunch can choose from one of five meals; the hot lunch entree that changes on the menu each day or one these four “swap outs” which are available every day:  muffin bag meal, bagel bag meal w/choice of cream cheese or butter, chicken nuggets, or pizza.  The bottom of the weekly Smore newsletter will be updated with the current lunch menu, or you can always visit the district website and click on Lunch Menus at the top of the home page.  Here is Maschio’s welcome letter and price list.   Please note that COVID era USDA funding that previously enabled no cost lunches in schools is no longer in place.  With the exception of those eligible for free/reduced lunch, families are responsible for the cost of cafeteria lunch and snack purchases.  There are two ways to get money into your child’s lunch account:
