Note that the point values listed before activities are to make up the ten daily points, not to make up the skyward grade for that specific activity. Things that are also in skyward separately will have points listed after. If you need to print out a specific page from the workbook, download it here.
March 9th & 12th - Day 1
Makeup 7 points - Watch all of the videos on the PowerPoint. On a piece of paper, write down the things you noticed were effective or ineffective in each speech.
Makeup 3 points - Do 20 minutes of free reading.
March 13 & 14 - Day 2
Makeup 6 points - Watch the three Ted Talks on the Presentation
Makeup 2 points - Chat with a friend about our classes "Ted Commandments" and fill out page 1 in your workbook
Makeup 2 points - Read your book of choice for 20 minutes
March 15 & 16 - Day 3
Makeup 8 points - Use the examples on the presentation to write your outline on page 2 of the workbook. Then write a speech consisting of about 750 words (5 paragraphs). 750 word should perfectly fill the time requirement. Bring a hard copy of your speech to class on day 4.
Makeup 2 points - Do 20 minutes of free reading.
March 19 & 20 - Day 4
Makeup 8 points - Use the slides 4-11 in order to revise your written speech. Be sure to practice your revised speech in the mirror at least twice before Day 5.

March 21 & 20 - Day 5
Makeup 10 points - Practice your speech at least ten times. Fill out pages 7-8 in workbook.
March 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 - Days 6-8
Makeup 8 points - Watch 40 minutes worth of ted talks of your choice and respond to them on page 9 of your workbook.
Makeup 2 points - Do free reading for 10 minutes

April 9 & 12 - Day 9
Makeup 1 points - Review all the due dates on slide 3
Makeup 6 points - Review presentation and takes notes on formal writing. Make a checklist that you can use while writing your future assignments
Makeup 3 points - Look at the Multi Genre Paper requirements on page 11 of your workbook. Do one page of your Multi Genre Paper.
April 10 & 11 - Ted Talk Expo
Makeup 8 points - Watch 40 minutes worth of ted talks of your choice and respond to them on page 9 of your workbook.
Makeup 2 points - Do free reading for 10 minutes
April 13 & 16 - Day 10
Makeup 6 points - Read through these sample college application essays and take notes on page 28 about what makes the essays either good or bad.
Makeup 2 points - Complete one page in your multi-genre paper
Makeup 2 points - Read for 15 minutes
April 17&18 - Day 11 - Presentation Here
Makeup 1 points - Check out slide 4 and practice writing with voice. Write a short paragraph about the weather - showing, not telling
Makeup 5 points - Focus on the qualities from slide 2. Write a practice essay according to one of the prompts on slide 5. The essay should be written on page 29&30 of your workbook
Makeup 2 points - Read for 15 minutes
Makeup 2 points - Do one page in your multi-genre paper
April 19 & 20 - Day 12 - Presentation Here
Makeup 2 points - Do one page in your multi genre paper and read for 10 minutes
Makeup 3 points - Self review your essay with your checklist from day 6
Makeup 3 points - Have at least 3 friends review your essay and circle any mistakes or things they would change
Makeup 2 points - Get a worksheet from me about independent and dependent clauses. Do the worksheet by yourself or with a partner.
April 23 & 24 - Day 13 - Makeup Day
Make sure you have a score for your rough draft, final draft, and practice for speech.
If you have not delivered your speech, do what you need to in order to prepare. Email me at nliston@alpinedistrict.org to determine when you will deliver the speech. I will not accept any speeches after FRIDAY April 27!

May 3 & 4 - Day 17
Makeup 2 points - Do the blue paper review (from me)
Makeup 1 points - Make sure you have 7 pages in your M.G. paper
Makeup 2 points - Take a look at the resume samples (from me) along with the good and bad qualities (from a friend - page 37). Take notes on page 37.
Makeup 5 points *also ten points in skyward* On google classroom you will find an assignment for you to write a resume. Follow the instructions there.
May 7 & 8 - Day 18 - Presentation HERE (Cover Letter Example in Presentation)
Makeup 2 points - Take the clauses, sentences, and verbs quiz during flex or after school.
Makeup 2 points - Do one page in M.G. - should have 8 now.
Makeup 6 points - Look at examples of cover letters and instructions on how to write one in the slide show above. Then, submit your cover letter and your resume in the same assignment on google classroom. Due May 9/10
