Before we begin our research projects the 5th graders go through this slide. In this slide the students learn about:
how to begin the research process
taking notes
plagarism vs paraphrasing
bibliographies
The students watch Flocabulary video & YouTube videos, answer questions & fill in venn diagrams, and practice writing bibliographies/citations in Google Forms.
Students use Google Slides to create Root Slides. Each slide has:
The Prefix/Root/Suffix
Meaning of the affix
2 vocabulary examples
A visual to help the student remember the meaning
A complete sentence using a vocabulary word with the affix.
After the students finished several slides, they transferred their words into Quizlet. They would use the flashcard feature to practice and the review games to practice. Every few weeks we played Quizlet.live to review and assess.
To teach Point of View I combined several different resources from Flocabulary, Teaching With A Mountain View, and Michele Waggoner, Sean Fahey and Karly Moura . Students made a copy of the slide and completed individually.
