I have a B.A in Elementary Education with Reading and ESOL endorsements from the University of West Florida and a M.Ed in Literacy Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Texas-Arlington.

I have been teaching for the past 9 years. I started my teaching career in Navarre, FL where I completed my practicums, student teaching, and the first two years of teaching in the 1st grade classroom. After my husband received orders to Sheppard AFB we packed up and moved to Wichita Falls, TX. Upon moving to Texas, I taught 1 year of 4th grade special education and 1 year of 4th grade writing at Shive Elementary School in Vernon, TX. In 2015, I was hired at Ben Franklin Elementary School to teach 5th grade reading and writing. I have been in the 5th grade ELAR (English Language Arts & Reading) classroom since.

I want to bring back the joy of reading that standardized tests have destroyed. Student by student I want to show them how to find literature that they will find interesting and engaging.
