I have a B.A in Elementary Education with Reading and ESOL endorsements from the University of West Florida and a M.Ed in Literacy Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Texas-Arlington.
I taught in public schools for 14 years before taking a break to homeschool my 2 daughters while traveling. I started my teaching career in Navarre, FL where I completed my practicums, student teaching, and the first two years of teaching in the 1st grade classroom. After my husband received orders to Sheppard AFB we packed up and moved to Wichita Falls, TX. Upon moving to Texas, I taught 1 year of 4th grade special education and 1 year of 4th grade writing at Shive Elementary School in Vernon, TX. In 2015, I was hired at Ben Franklin Elementary School to teach 5th grade reading and writing. I taught 5th grade reading and writing at Ben Franklin until we received order to JBMLD (McGuire) in 2020. In September 2020, I started at Cranberry Pines Elementary School. I spent 1 year as a long term substitute for 5th grade Writing and the K-5 STEM teachers. This was during the height of COVID/online classes/hybrid learning environments. The following year I was hired on as the K-5 STEM & IMPACT teacher where I stayed until my husband finished his enlistment in the USAF and we moved yet again. Upon his retirement we packed up and went on a 6 month road trip so I began homeschooling my daughters and have continued to do so as we settle down once again.
I love teaching children to love reading and books. I have worked with some truly wonderful teachers who put their everything into bringing joy to the classroom, and feel blessed to have learned so much from them. I hope to continue teaching children in any capacity.
