Katz's Classes

Hello, I am Mrs. Katzenstein and most people call me “Mrs. Katz.”

I teach physics and engineering at Valley View High School in Moreno Valley, California. I have taught at Valley View since 2015 and I have over 12 years of teaching experience that includes middle school science and alternative education at a charter school. I also taught supplemental physics and astronomy courses while studying physics in college.

Colleges

I earned my B.S. in physics from CSU Long Beach (Go Beach!) and my M.A. in Teaching from UC Irvine (Zot! Zot!). I also completed my first two years of undergraduate work at the University of Redlands (Och Tamale!).

In addition to teaching, I have industry experience as a physics and systems engineer working on products in optics and laser laboratories. I am a certified Project Lead the Way (PLTW) engineering teacher with coursework and training completed at Cal Poly Pomona College of Engineering and San Diego State University. I currently teach the course, Principles of Engineering (POE). I hold a preliminary Career and Technical Education (CTE) credential for engineering and architecture in addition to my physics credential.

My Family

I enjoy traveling and going on adventures with my family. We have 2 children and Daisy, our dog loves to go on adventures with us. In the Fall of 2020, my daughter will be 13 and entering 8th grade and my son, 8, will be going into 3rd grade. Both my children are in dual immersion programs and most of their school day is in Spanish. My husband is a chemist and despite that we get along pretty well together.
