My School Counseling Philosophy
As a school counselor I believe that all students have a right to an education in a safe environment. They have the right to an education that will help prepare them for their future. Having collaboration, mutual respect, active participation, and individual accountability of students’ and all stakeholders. As a school counselor I believe that the comprehensive school counseling program is an integral factor of the total instructional curriculum. All students will be shown acceptance, empathy, and genuineness.
I will be a compassionate and empathetic school counselor who will mindfully work to understand others’ experiences. I will adhere to the professional school ethics adhered by the American School Counseling Association. I will advocate for students to have the resources they need in order for them to get the appropriate education and the correct tools for them to become successful members of the community. I will partake in professional development to improve my knowledge of the latest educational trends and standards to be better prepared to help students. I will make sure my programming efforts align to support a safe and accepting school environment. I will create an educational setting that will support realistic expectations for students.
