Expectations

School Day:

School begins at 8:10 A.M.  The school day ends at 3:05 P.M. Your child should arrive to school in time to do their morning jobs and begin the day not feeling rushed.

Our special classes include Art, Music, PE, Library, and Computer Lab and will be held from 8:20-9:00.

Lunch will be from 11:45-12:10 each day.

Recess will be held from 12:10-12:25 and from 1:35-1:55 each day.  Your child will be given a break during these times if all work is completed and turned in.

Students who choose not to complete schoolwork may have to attend a meeting with me during recess time to discuss and complete  missing work.

Supplies:

The school has provided school supplies for all students at NDES

We will also use household items for STEM projects such as tape, glue, toilet paper and paper towel tubes, popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, string, yarn, straws, cardboard. If you are interested,  you are invited to save and collect these items at home to send in to our classroom.

Homework:

In third grade, homework is used to review what has been taught in class, to prepare students for upcoming tests, and to help develop good study habits. The following items are to be considered homework activities:

Read from an AR  book for at least 15 minutes each evening.

Practice math facts: addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division.

 Study Spelling words.

Study Reading vocabulary words for the  story test.

Effort:

Each day we will learn new things and face challenging content.  I'd like for students to think of the power of "yet."

"I can't do this...yet."

"I'm not good at this...yet."

"I don't understand this...yet."

"This doesn't make sense...yet."

With this growth mindset we believe that if we work hard and exercise our brains, we can learn anything. When our brain works hard it is growing...like a muscle.

Yet is a very powerful word!
