Class Work

SPELLING: For spelling, we will be using  a list developed from The Not So Wimpy Teacher.  Students will us Spelling City, an online program, to practice their words each week along with various assignments. Students will be tested over the list on Fridays. 


READING: Independent reading is important for growth at school. Students are asked to read for at least 15 minutes each evening. Students will receive a reading bingo challenge sheet each month to color to show what they have read in the evenings. Parents are asked to help monitor this log by signing and writing the dates.   At the end of the month, students will be rewarded for completing a cover-all on the sheet.

MATH: We will be working on and learning our math facts by using an online program called Xtra Math. Students who pass each type of fact (+, -, X, ÷) will earn a reward.


SCIENCE:  We will learn about Science concepts this year by working in the online Mystery Science program and by completing STEM projects. 


Social Studies: We will learn about Social Studies concepts through our textbook and through  our Reading stories.  We will learn about our community in northern Dearborn county.  We will learn how our area is alike and different from other communities in the United States. We will learn about other communities in the United States and around the world.


Writing/Grammar: We will work on Language Arts concepts through writing stories and essays while practicing proper punctuation and mechanics. We will study the different types of grammar and apply them correctly in our writing.
