Welcome to the Kindergarten Academy- where your child's educational journey begins!
We are proud to offfer a full day kindergarten program that focuses on developing the social, emotional, and academic skills of all of our kindergartners! This is done through meaningful learning opportunities and play based experiences.
Our school hours are 7:40 AM- 2:10 PM. Students are permitted to enter the building at 7:30 AM. If you are dropping off your child, please plan your arrival to ensure that they are in their classroom by 7:40 AM. Students arriving after 7:40 AM must be signed in at the KA office.
All walkers will enter the building through the main Kindergarten Academy door. There will be a crossing guard to help navigate car rider traffic. Parents may come using the sidewalks around Kindergarten Academy. Parents should walk their child to the front door to drop them off.
-All vehicle riders will enter the building at the Norway Street Entrance, which is the main entrance for Kindergarten Academy. You will pull p into the loop to drop your child off and have your child exit the car on the passenger side by the sidewalk. You will be responsible for unbuckling car seats and ensuring that your child is on the sidewalk. Cars should only unload along the painted curb. Please be considerate of others waiting for drop off and make "good-byes" quick. Parents may not drive around other parents after dropping their child off and should wait until the car in front of them has pulled away before leaving.
Anyone picking up a student at dismissal should have their ID with them for verification.
All parents picking up their child as a car rider must use the School Dismissal Manager App. If your child is not following his/her designated dismissal routine (i.e., being picked up instead of riding the bus), you should utilize the School Dismissal Manager App to create an exception.
Car Riders: When entering the Norway Street car rider loop, you must use the School Dismissal Manager App to scan the QR code at the entrance of the loop (please see map on back of document). By doing this, the staff will know the order of the cars and who will be picking up your child. We will dismiss students in groups with each group being escorted by a staff member. Kindergarten staff will walk your child to your car, and you will need to buckle him/her into the car seat on the passenger side of the car. If you are waiting in the line and are not yet at the painted curb, please wait for the staff to signal before pulling your car up. This will allow us to ensure that everyone is safely inside vehicles. If your child is in your car, and the car in front of you is still loading, do not pass the cars in front of you to leave. This presents a significant safety issue and could result in an accident with a pedestrian.
Walkers: We will dismiss students one at a time from the main entrance of Kindergarten Academy. Please make sure that you have your photo ID available. When you see your child, please wave, and we will have your child wave back and then unite the two of you. Please safely exit using sidewalks and crosswalks.
Please contact the Kindergarten Academy office when your child will be absent, arriving late or leaving early. You can do this by:
Telephone: (717) 506-0852
E-mail: KAoffice@mbgsd.org
School Dismissal Manager
A written excuse is required for all absences within 3 days of your child returning to school. E-mail is preferred and can act as both calling your child off and the written excuse.
Breakfast will be available to your child upton entering the building. Students will take their school "grab and go" breakfast to their classroom. Breakfast may not be brought in from home. If you do not want your child to have school breakfast, please be sure that your child knows this expectation and this should be communicated with your child's teacher.
Lunch will include four choices: Regular (hot lunch), Alternate (deli sandwich), Wildcat (peanut butter & Jelly), or GoYo (yogurt and cheese). You may pack your child's lunch.
Breakfast: No Charge, Lunch: $2.85, Reduced lunch price: No charge, Milk (a la carte) $0.60
Lunch menus will be sent home and can also be accessed from the district website under quick links, food service.
It is recommended that each student uses a book bag to transport items to and from school. Please check your child's book bag/folder daily to support a strong home to school communication. If a book bag is needed, please contact the school counselor.
The Kindergarten Academy is a fun, hands-on learning environment. Your child will have recess twice a day and will have many opportunities to demonstrate their understanding using a variety of materials, so play clothing is preferred.
Students should wear shoes conducive to running and playing.
Please refer to the dress code policy in the elementary handbook.
All volunteers will need:
TB test
PA State Police Criminal Check
FBI Background Check or Waiver
