This year will be another adventure. The continued reality of COVID-19, (with new variants of which to be wary and mindful) means that we must stay the course of caution this year, and continue social-distancing and masking in school, as well as taking necessary precautions to stop the spread. Once again, if I tried to tell you I have all the answers, I would be starting this important relationship with a lie.
It will be a challenge, and it will undoubtedly test us all. There will likely be some moments of frustration, some technological and logistical challenges, and a fair few setbacks. Here and now, I promise you this: I will give your children my absolute best as their teacher. As ever, I am begging your patience and assistance. I will need your help.
I say this every year at back to school night: WE ARE A TEAM. We must work together. I also promise I will always do my very best to accommodate and help you. I understand the desire to get back to life as we knew it. I can only imagine the struggle of trying to make sure your child is learning and growing while also managing the demands of daily life. Know this: I am here to help. Please reach out to me if you have questions or concerns- I will, of course, do the same. Communication is key to making this relationship a successful one.
One more promise: We will find the fun together again this year. I choose to look at this circumstance as an opportunity to find a new way of doing things. We must look for the good- the children need this from us. They will need positivity in light of negative situations. Every year, as I build relationships with my students, I make sure they know I am a human being- I make mistakes, I have feelings, I learn and grow just as they do. We will continue to have many opportunities to learn and grow together.
Thank you for your support, I look forward to working with all of you!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Gleason
We will be using Google Classroom for managing assignments. Stay Tuned for our class code.
Students will be required to wear masks in school for at least a portion of the day, especially when transitioning from their seat to any other part of the classroom or school.
Please, if you have not done so already, practice mask safety with your child if you are opting to send them to school. Remind them that masks are tools that keep them and their friends safe, not toys! Masks are handled by the straps, they should not touch the front of their mask, and any time they touch their mask they should clean their hands. We will practice this in school as well.
We will have new additions to our learning environment to promote social distancing, but please remind your child that we will be practicing social distancing and help them understand that this means hugging or touching classmates will, unfortunately, be discouraged until the pandemic is under control. (We will find new, fun ways to greet and interact with our friends, don't worry!)
We will have a morning snack everyday. Please send in a small, nutritious snack and a drink. Please place snack in separate bags from lunch. Please label the bag with your child's name and the word "SNACK".
Lunch is at 11:50 am.
ALL STUDENTS MUST BRING A LUNCH FROM HOME. There will be NO Cafeteria Service this year.
TREATS FROM HOME (SNACKS/GOODIE BAGS/FAVORS) WILL NOT BE PERMITTED THIS YEAR. We will make sure your child has a special day at school on their birthday in other ways, but we are not permitted to have anything come in to the school from home for distribution this year.
Students are to arrive at our CLASSROOM DOOR this year, not the front door or the auditorium doors. The door will open at 7:30am and close promptly at 8:00am. Please make sure your child arrives on time!
You will be notified of arrival/dismissal protocols by the school office. Please make sure you read and follow the arrival and dismissal protocols carefully! These are in place for the health and safety of your child, our class, and our community as a whole!
Please be aware there is a fee for both morning and after care and you are billed monthly.
