Philosophy of Education

All students can learn.
Every child is an individual with unique strengths, needs, interests, and learning styles. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to meet students where they are, build meaningful connections with them, and provide the support they need to grow. If a student is struggling to learn the way we are teaching, then it is our responsibility as educators to find a different way to help them learn and succeed.

Mistakes are okay.
Mistakes are a natural and important part of learning. We are all human, and no one gets everything right the first time. Students need to feel safe taking risks, making mistakes, and trying again. My role is to help them reflect on their mistakes, learn from them, and understand that mistakes are opportunities for growth.

We are a classroom community.
My students are an important part of our classroom community. Through class meetings, classroom jobs, and a positive behavior plan, students will have opportunities to contribute, take ownership of their learning, and support one another. Our classroom belongs to all of us, and every student should feel valued, respected, and heard.

Fifth grade is an important year for students as they develop greater independence, responsibility, and accountability for themselves and their learning. I want to give my students the tools they need to become confident, successful individuals who believe in themselves and recognize their own worth.  Above all, my classroom will be a safe, caring, and supportive place where every student feels accepted, encouraged, and empowered to be the best version of themselves.
