Character education is a learning process that teaches students the vital characteristics and skills needed to interact with others in an intellectual, moral, and empathetic way.
At Luther Elementary School, we utilize the research-based Tier 1 curriculum CharacterStrong to promote character development among our students. Additionally, we highlight a new character trait each month. Students learn the definition of the character trait during the morning announcements. Each week students are introduced to new vocabulary words and inspirational quotes that pertain to that month's trait. Teachers and staff are encouraged to recognize students who exhibit the character trait throughout the school day. Each month the school counselor selects two students who successfully incorporated the character trait into his/her academic environment, and those students are recognized at the monthly awards assembly.
