Teaching & Management Style
I personally as a teacher prefer to use the Cognitive Learning Theory in my class which is a method of teaching that looks at the way the students think. It then uses mental processes to be able to understand how we learn. By understanding students thought process, I am able to help them learn in a way that is specific to their learning needs. This learning strategy can help students to better understand how their own thought process works as well as utilizing that knowledge to create better learning opportunities.
Motivation Strategies
Building strong relationships with students by creating trust through the use of both emotional and social support.
Enhance task interest and engagement by having a positive attitude and emotions.
Emphasize the importance of learning by relating information to real world situations.
Give students autonomy and responsibility by allowing the option of choice and empowering student initiative.
Develop and encourage student led self-efficacy by creating clear expectations.
Engagement Strategies
Engage with students personal interests.
Encourage and create oppertunity for group work and collabortation. Students can also share work which helps hold them accountable to one another.
Using a mixture of resources such as videos, books, audio, slideshows, reading, writing, illistrating/drawing, expirements, and much more!
Keep the students moving with the use of stations, group or partner work, activities, and more.
Asking open ended questions!
Brain Breasks: 5-15 minute breathers where students are able to stretch their legs and move around before returning back to their work which allows them to regain their focus.
Student Learning & Roles
Student learning takes place in many different aspects including group work, individual work, partner work, one on one work with the teacher, and class work as a whole.
