Literature and World

Our Classroom ...

Is our home away from home - our learning hub, our place to be brave, challenge ourselves, and motivate each other.

This is a place of active, creative, and sometimes difficult work. Authors do not write books to be studied they write to entertain, advise, persuade, examine, and inspire. We as readers are challenged to interpret what makes the text meaningful in the context of the world.

What makes our classroom thrive is the energy that comes from this effort.

The view from Mrs. Mancini's backyard....it is impossible not to love it here.

I have been an educator for 26 years and earned my BA in English Writing and Political Science from SUNY Potsdam and an M.Ed. with a concentration in Middle School English from Canisius College. I also hold a certificate in Gifted Education from UNC Charlotte and the College of North GA. I LOVE LEARNING. My first love is Middle School but I have spent several years in Elementary (as a school library coordinator) and 8 years in Early Ed as a Preschool Director.  I have loved all of my jobs but Middle School is 100% my favorite!

My husband, Brett, and I have 4 children; Jack, the oldest works in Boston and is a coach for the Boston Latin Crew team, and our second son, Evan is a Physicist & Mathemetician who works for the NSF on the Condor Space Telescope program in Washington, DC. Our daughter, Emma Kate is a physical rehab aid in MA. Our youngest, Owen, is a Mater Christi alumni and is now at Rice HS. We also have 2 dogs, a cat, and our class pets: a red-eared slider, Turtle, and a hedgehog named Charles Wallace - can you guess who he is named after?

We enjoy time with our Mass Buddies
