Curriculum: Writing

We use the 6+1 traits model and focus mainly on ideas and conventions.

Ideas (main message)

• choose an interesting topic
• support your idea with juicy details
• focus on what matters to you

Conventions

• use imitation and/or real letters
• phonetic spelling
• conventional spelling of simple words
• end punctuation
• capital letters at the beginning of a sentence and in proper nouns
• spacing between words

Students will be taught 6+1 Traits through shared writing, modeled writing, interactive writing, and independent writing.
