Language Arts

Curriculum: LA

• Students will be developing their oral language and vocabulary skills through a variety of texts and genres.
• We will be doing shared reading, independent reading, and guided reading to establish reading strategies and improve reading comprehension.
• Word work is another key component in L.A. We will be making words using a variety of manipulatives, segmenting and blending sounds, working with rhymes, syllables, discriminating sounds, and learning high frequency words.
• students will learn to compare and contrast a variety of literary works verbally and in writing (utilize graphic organizers)
• Grammar: nouns (proper, plural, singular), adjectives (size, color, shape), verbs.
