Everyday your child will be writing their homework in their learning log. This will contain all of the homework assignments for each day of the week. It should be kept in the front of their binder. If it is misplaced during the week, please be sure to check the website. The best place to check for homework is their learning log.

Parents should check homework every night to see that it is done accurately. Late homework will not be accepted. Please make every effort to ensure that your child has placed their homework in their binder and is ready for the next day. Additionally, please note that all unfinished classwork will become homework (i.e. morning work, lit. log activities, study guide pages, etc.)

Remember homework is a team effort! With your support at home, we will have a successful year!

Typically, homework will consist of these assignments:

1) Math: Math homework will start on Monday and will be due the next day. This will continue every day, unless there is a test.

2) Reading Comprehension: We will practice in class, then a reading comprehension worksheet will go home every Monday and it will be due every Thursday. Please remember to highlight where you found the answer and write the paragraph numbers next to each question. Refer to the handout in your child's binder for directions.

3) Fluency: Practice fluency everyday and write down the amount of words your child got correct per minute. Don't forget to sign fluency daily.

4) Spelling: All Spelling homework will be completed at home. Please use the spelling notebook for homework. For Thursday's homework, please make sure to write it in the spelling notebook. There will be a Test every Friday.

5) Read 15-20 minutes

6) Reflex: Reflex is a fun way to increase the math facts fluency. Students need to do reflex until they get the green light.

7) History:   For every unit of History, Students will receive a History packet filled with information and activity sheets related to this unit. Students will also be working on a fill-in-the-blank study guide throughout each History unit. Additionally students also keep a History Timeline Journal.  All packets, Study Guides and Timeline Journals will be completed in class.  These three resources, especially the packets are great study tools and are graded as a part of your child's history grade. Please keep these packets in the history pocket of your child's binder. They will be collected at the end of every history unit. Each unit lasts approximately 2 weeks.
