FAQ

What is the MRS Hackathon?

The MRS Hackathon 2023 is a 2-day event that brings together magnetic resonance spectroscopy researchers who are interested in collaboratively solving problems and creating useful resources for the MRS community.

The MRS Hackathon is inspired by and modeled after the highly successful Brainhack series.

What is happening at the MRS Hackathon?

In the beginning of the hackathon, everyone can pitch a project to the other attendees to work on. These projects may include new software tools (think data processing, visualization, analysis), educational materials, or really anything else that may be useful to the MRS community.

During coding hours, attendees have time to work on these projects. People can work on their own projects, join a group to work on a pitched project, or even switch between groups. The format is very fluid and determined by attendees.

You will also have the opportunity to talk about your research in the Unconference session. You sign up to do that on-site. Slides optional!

At the end of the hackathon, teams will present a brief wrap-up summary of their achievements.

We will also offer social hours to mingle, network, and decompress!

I don't have a project pitch. Can I still come?

YES, of course! In the beginning, attendees can pitch their project ideas to the other attendees. You will be able to join any group you like!

I have never programmed in my life. Can I still come?

YES, of course! You can still mingle, meet other MRS researchers, get to know their work and their projects, and maybe even get your feet wet doing a bit of coding. Remember, the best way to learn how to code is to pick a project and just... start coding.
