Mix It Up Day 2019 (Mustache Theme)

October 29 2019

35 awesome middle schoolers will be leaders at the lunch table on October 29th. They will help transform the cafeteria into a mixed up area, where students will set at colored tables based on random wristband colors. The leaders will conduct a conversation at the table to help promote acceptance and encourage new friendship.

Mix It Up Day 2018 (Neon Theme)

Students consistently identify the cafeteria as a place in their school where divisions are clearly—and harshly—drawn. So we ask students to move out of their comfort zones and connect with someone new over lunch. It’s a simple act with profound implications that we encourage educators to include in year-round efforts to promote healthy, welcoming school environments. Studies have shown that interactions across group lines can help reduce prejudice. When students interact with those who are different from them, biases and misconceptions can fall away. https://www.tolerance.org/mix-it-up
