For learners and experienced ringers who want to progress their ringing

Whether you're just starting out on your ringing journey or whether you are a seasoned ringer, we can help you progress.

For beginners we coach bell handling, rounds, call changes, striking, listening skills, rope sight, raising and lowering and start you off with plain hunt.

For more the more experienced, we can help you with method ringing, including basic doubles methods, surprise methods and ringing on a

higher number of bells.

Learn to ring with us

Like many towers we use tied bells for practice purposes linked to specialist ringing software. Where we differ from many other towers is the use of additional equipment such as a projector and large screen to project the moving images. It is the closest you can get to actually ringing with a band.

We can help both learners and more experienced ringers alike.

Teaching with technology

At the Mike Rigby Ringing Centre at Lighthorne, we use a Bagley simulator and Virtual Belfry ringing software, along with a large screen, a projector and foot pedal. The foot pedal allows the teacher and or the ringer to control the software without needing to be at the computer.

The simulator is a very powerful aid to supporting learning, and giving ringers more opportunities to grow.

Ringing on a simulator is not a substitute for ringing with a band and the expert support that skilled ringers can give you. But, by using the latest technology, we can make training more effective and accessible for the benefit of the whole ringing community.

Better-trained ringers mean stronger, more accomplished bands.
