This is a tutorial to help students get into their classes in Khan Academy and link the students to the teacher.
The students need to log into their chromebooks using their correct school account. Go ahead and go to www.google.com to ensure you are fully signed in correctly.
Now go to www.khanacademy.org or just click the link. The homepage should look like the following screen.
IMPORTANT: Please click the LOGIN button, not Learners start here. It will expedite the process.
Students, you will now need to continue with google. If you have logged into your account, it should take your right to a page where you have to give permission for Khan Academy to access your google account. If you have not logged into your cm201u google account, you will need to now.
Khan will greet you as a student, and you will have to fill in your age and grade in the following two windows. Go ahead and do so.
That will bring you to the student home page, and now it is time to pick the class content areas. You will want to pick the course, or courses, that fit your needs in Khan Academy. For the purpose of this tutorial, we will consider you juniors in Algebra 2, so we will need to pick Algebra 2, and SAT prep as the areas you want to focus on. If you don't choose the correct areas, you will still receive the correct assignments from your teacher, and you can easily change these content areas later.
After you have chosen your content areas, it will bring you to the student dashboard, which you will want to browse and become more familiar with later. For now, the next step is one of the most important, and that is to get enrolled in your teacher's course. This is where you will use the code provided by your teacher. In Khan Academy, your teacher is called your "coach", so you will want to pick the option for choosing a coach.
When you click "coaches" it will take you to a screen where you must type in your course code provided to you by your teacher. Type in the code, and if it is correct, you will now see your teacher listed as your coach.
That is it for now! You can now receive assignments from your teachers, and you can now start working on content areas on your own where you feel you need more work. Good luck and I hope you take advantage of this great resource!
