Virtual DC Trip

Here is your virtual tour of Washington, DC for the students at Malcolm Public Schools who weren't able to make the Washington DC trip.

The group will be visiting several sites on their trip. Visit each of these sites virtually to see what students will be learning while there.

1. Take this virtual field trip and use the web to search for any material not covered throughout your guided journey. There is a great deal to see as we visit our nation's capital. While you may not be able to physically travel here at this point you can virtually visit all of the points of interest!!!
2. National Air and Space Museum--There are currently several exhibitions in the National Mall building of this museum. Browse through a few of the exhibits and list three things that you have learned or that you found most interesting.
   1. The National Mall includes 7 famous monuments. Visit the links of each and write one thing you find interesting about each monument, what it is made of, and the year each was constructed(finished).

3. Take this virtual tour of Supreme Court Building. Be sure to read the directions on the first page on how to navigate through the tour. Click on some of the 'hot spots' and explore the building. Be sure to visit the courtroom and the chambers of Justice Ginsburg and Justice Stevens. Write at least five interesting pieces of information that you learn on your paper.
4. Watch the short video over the National Museum of American History. and record three things you learned or saw in the video.
5. Pick one online exhibit from the National Museum of Natural History to explore. Write which one you chose and the most interesting thing you learned.
6. Read about the Ronald Reagan Building and describe what its purpose is.
7. Visit Mount Vernon and watch the short movie at the top of the page. Then click on the Virtual Mansion Tour and launch the Flash tour. Please list two facts you learned about Mount Vernon.
8. Next, go to the National Archives and visit some of the online exhibits. "Of all documents and materials created in the course of business conducted by the United States Federal government, only 1%-3% are so important for legal or historical reasons that they are kept by us forever." Which is your favorite and why? Also, find the first Daniel Freeman's first Homestead application document and analyze it.
9. View the Changing of Guard Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery and explain four facts about this process.
   2. The last stop is the Washington National Cathedral. Take the virtual tour to view and read about the High Altar, Crossing, the two chapels and the West Front. List and Read about three statues that can be found in the National Cathedral.
