Technical Theatre Semester Course

LOOKING FOR A SEMESTER CLASS THAT IS LOTS OF FUN & DIFFERENT & USEFUL SKILLS 

TO PAIR WITH YOUR JUNIOR YEAR REQUIRED HEALTH 2 SEMESTER???


DT-910-8 Technical Theatre Grades 10, 11, 12  (1/2 credit) One Semester Course. Students will design and construct the technical elements involved in theatrical productions. Students will learn about storytelling and design principles in order to apply them to set, lighting, prop, sound, costume, and marketing. Students will also learn about safe practices in construction and electrical work. Students will be actively involved in the production process. The semester course does not satisfy the fine arts credit for graduation. 

This is NOT an acting & performing class. You will not be required to do any acting on stage. This is a TECH CREW behind the scenes skill based class. We work on building & painting sets, designing blueprints, learning the lighting console design & audio design, costume design & props design. No theatre experience necessary.  

You MAY repeat the course for a full yearlong experience, or take it as a semester in either fall or spring only. 

THIS CLASS DOES NOT SATISFY YOUR GRADUATION REQUIREMENT FOR FINE ARTS- only the yearlong courses Theatre Arts 1 or Theatre Company GT or Musical Theatre GT satisfy graduation requirement.
