About Me

Hello! My name is Matthew Filo. I am a graduate of the University of Mount Union class of 2020. I obtained a bachelor of arts in Middle Childhood Education for math and science with a minor in Theatre.

Right out of college, I got a job teaching science and technology at Harding Middle School in Steubenville, Ohio. In June of 2021, a job opened up closer to home at Barberton High School in Barberton, Ohio.

I was an ESSER Math Tutor for the 2021-2022 School year. In the summer of 2022, I obtained my Intervention Specialist License, which allowed me to transition to full-time as an Intervention Specialist for the 2022-2023.  When a position opened over the summer of 2023, I transitioned to a high school math teacher. Throughout my time at Barberton City Schools, I have been actively involved in growing and working with Algebra I, Golf, and Ski Club. In the fall of 2023, Barberton City Schools installed new video scoreboards in both the gymnasium and stadium. I was tasked with creating content, recruiting students, and teaching students. For the 2024-2025 school year, I will be teaching a class with a curriculum I helped to create.

Going along with all that, I continued to work as the Chippewa High School Drama Department Tech Director, which I have held since the fall of 2016. I am very passionate about everything I do and love what I do
