The buttons below link to various examples of student work. With each example, I have provided notes about why it received the score that it did.
Remember that a score of 1 or 2 means that student has not yet demonstrated full understanding of the concept. They were given feedback (often on a sticky note, as seen in some examples), and were asked to learn from their mistakes to deepen their understanding of the math. It is expected that they resubmit their work.
A score of 3 or 4 indicates that the student has demonstrated understanding of the concept. Students were still provided feedback to push their understanding of the math, especially those were given a score of 3. They don't need to resubmit their work.
These examples demonstrate an understanding the concept. They provide examples with labels, explanations, and have even explained where they made mistakes. It is easy to follow their thinking process. They haven't fully answered the problem, which is why they were pushed to extend their answer.
These examples demonstrate mastery of the concept. They have clearly ordered explanations, examples, and labels. If they have made errors along the way, they have pointed them out and explained what they learned. They have make sure to fully answer the problem and have convinced everyone of their mathematical argument.
