Junior Cycle Maths is a 3-year course designed to build practical problem-solving skills for everyday life and lay the groundwork for Senior Cycle.
The course content is divided into five main areas:
Unifying Strand: The overarching theme of problem-solving and making connections between different mathematical topics.
Number: Working with percentages, financial literacy (tax and wages), ratios, and real-world money problems.
Algebra and Functions: Solving linear equations, simplifying expressions, and factorising quadratic equations.
Geometry and Trigonometry: Using shapes, constructions (like using a compass), and angle reasoning.
Statistics and Probability: Gathering data, interpreting charts, calculating the mean/median, and finding probabilities.
