Title: Financial development and Sectoral growth in Ghana
Abstract
The paper investigates whether the amelioration of the financial sector has been good for thesector-specific growth in agriculture and industry in Ghana. Using annual time series data from 1991 to 2020 an employing the ARDL approach to cointegration, study found a positive long-run and short-run relationship between financial development and sectoral growth in Ghana. In particular, unit increase in financial development leads to about 3.59% and 6.4% increase in agricultural growth and industrial growth respectively in the long-run. In the short-run, a unit increase in financial development leads to approximately 0.2% and 1.4% increase in agricultural growth and industrial growth respectively. The study recommends that policymakers prioritize measures to promote financial development to foster growth and development in the agricultural and industrial sectors of Ghana
After graduating from KNUST in November 2023, I served as a Teaching and Research Assistant in the Department of Economics, KNUST while co-founding Bright Academic Consult with my colleague, Emmanuel Kodom. Our consultancy addresses a critical gap in Ghana's public universities, where high student-to-faculty ratios often limit the guidance available for dissertation writing.
Recognizing that undergraduate and master's students face significant challenges in research methodology, data collection, analysis, and thesis presentation, we established Bright Academic Consult as a supplementary support system. Our service assists students who need additional guidance beyond their assigned supervisors, who are often constrained by heavy teaching loads and research commitments. We provide comprehensive thesis support while ensuring students maintain academic integrity and meet their degree requirements.
Our consultancy offers specialized guidance in several key areas:
Identifying research gaps and developing focused research titles
Writing comprehensive research proposals
Conducting literature reviews with proper citation methods and academic database utilization
Designing questionnaires, collecting data, and accessing secondary data sources
Developing appropriate research methodologies to address research questions
Through this work, we've supported diverse research projects while helping students develop crucial research skills.
