Major Assignments
Reading assignments - students will read a variety of novels, poems, and short stories
These reading assignments will also involve analysis papers, class discussions, and other projects that will allow students to think more in depth about the topic and be creative.
Research Paper - students will write an in depth research paper over the topic of their choosing. The paper will be in MLA format and be 3-5 pages in length. Students will also have to give an oral presentation over their paper.
Speeches
On Demand Writing Assignments - students will write three on demand essays at various points in the year: narrative, expository, and argument.
ACT Prep and Practice - students will use early release Fridays looking at and developing a working knowledge of the ACT English and Reading tests.
