Turnitin.com is a service that provides a number of useful tools to both teachers and to students, including the following:

* electronic comments by teacher

Selected writing assignments must be submitted via www. turnitin.com

Although your essay will be stored in Turnitin’s database and used for checking other submissions for plagiarism, the text of your essay will not be shared, and so your privacy is protected.

Please refer to the instructions on the reverse side of this sheet and register at www.turnitin.com by the following date:

REGISTERING AT TURNITIN.COM

1. Go to www.turnitin.com

2. Click “Create an Account” in the upper right OR log on with your logon and password

3. Create a New Account, choose “student”

4. Enter the appropriate ID for your class in Class ID Information:

· 16127525. = Period 1 – English 201

· 16127549 = Period 3 – English 201

· 16127597 = Period 4 – English 201

· 16127402 = Period 5 – Your Literate Life

· 16127651 = Period 7 – Media Studies

· 16127704 = Period 8 – English 201

5. Enter **** (see teacher) as the class enrollment password

6. Enter User Information in the blank form

7. Read Turnitin’s terms of service and click “I agree—create profile”

8. Read the information and log in.

9. Later, when it is time to submit an assignment, you may simply log in and click on the “submit” button beside an assignment to submit your paper.

NOTES ON SUBMITTING TO TURNITIN.COM:

● If your essay successfully uploads, you will receive a receipt via email.

● Double-check your upload by logging out of your Turnitin account, then logging back in and checking to see if the document is in your folder.

● If you do have what seems to be an insurmountable technical problem, you may email me the essay as an attachment before the deadline. Then, you should bring the file to school on a flash drive (or have it accessible by other means) and ask me to help you upload it to Turnitin before school.

● Do not wait until the last minute to submit your assignments. Give yourself time to work around any technical problems. Do what you need to do to get the assignment in on time.
