2020-2021 Girls Swim and Dive Important Information

Potential First day of practice: Monday, March 1, 2021

The details of this year's high school swim and dive schedule are far from set. Many things need to be put in place and given the go ahead by the state and the school district. Our first concern will be the safety of the individuals involved and their families.

If the season follows the above WIAA plan, we will have a shortened season (approximately two months, rather than the usual three). Practices and competition will likely look very different than in the past. I will post more details as I find out more.

Practices will possibly be in the same time slot: Arne Hanna, 3:30 - 5:00(?), every third week 8:30 - 10:00 pm, but because this is all still up in the air due to the changes at Arne Hanna and the change of the season, we do not know how this may work.

Because of the limited overall season length we will need to be IN SHAPE when the season begins. If you are not a club swimmer, establish a dryland training routine, and if possible get in the water at Arne Hanna for lap swimming.

Practices will possibly be in the same time slot: Arne Hanna, 3:30 - 5:00(?), every third week 8:30 - 10:00 pm, every third week 3:30 - 5:00? at the YMCA, but because this is still up in the air due to the changes at Arne Hanna.

Dryland: (Again, not set in stone yet) once we are back in the building we will likely have a 7:00 to 8:00 am time with a wt. room supervisor.

In the meantime those who are involved in club swimming should start up again if you feel it can be done safely. All others should develop a workout routine that keeps you strong and in good cardio shape.

SwimSwam has a great published set of dryland workouts that you can adjust for your level. Just go the main SwimSwam site and search for "daily dryland workouts".

FitnessBlender is also a great resource that can be accessed on their site or through YouTube videos. Go to workout programs and choose the filters that apply to you.
