Some tips for success:
Join our class discussions. This is an elective course. You chose to be here. Do more than fill a seat.
Get to know your classmates and be willing to work with everyone.
Ask questions - if you don’t feel comfortable during class, stick around after to talk or you can email me.
Be here! Excessive absences may make it difficult to keep up with the material.
An additional note for parents & guardians:
Please speak with your child about the course content throughout the year. As we discuss nutrition practices, analyze dietary/eating styles, etc., students may adjust their eating habits. This course is designed to educate only and at no time will I be counseling their individual choices or putting anyone on a ‘diet’ / ‘eating plan’. Additionally, there is no shame to anyone’s food choices. If your child has any food allergies that Sachem may not be aware of, please let me know, as we will have food tasting opportunities during the year. Additionally, if your child struggles with nutrition or you believe they have an unhealthy relationship with food, please reach out to me to discuss these concerns. Thank you so much for your support with our new elective course!
